PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local resident of Paris has been named Paris Community Hospital’s Volunteer of the Year.

Joann Bayler was honored on April 18 during a volunteer appreciation event held during National Volunteer Week, that recognized all the volunteers for their services over the course of the year.

Volunteering for the Paris Community Hospital since 2019, Joann now serves as co-treasurer for the PCH Volunteers and has 1,185 hours of volunteer time logged. Joann is also a volunteer on the Sutton Senior Center board.

For the year 2022, 3,175 hours were donated by 26 active PCH Volunteers. The volunteers’ ongoing work includes sorting mail, operating the hospital gift shop, and staffing the surgery waiting room.

PCH Volunteers also achieved the following in 2022:

  • Purchased a blanket warmer for the new Dialysis Center
  • Awarded a $1,000 healthcare scholarship to an area high school student and a $1,000 scholarship to a Horizon Health employee

The volunteer recognition event held a reception that also honored other individuals who provide volunteer service to Horizon Health.
