Paris man arrested with drugs, ammunition in car

PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Paris man was arrested last week when police found drugs and ammunition in his car during a traffic stop.

On Monday, July 15, Jacob J. Shumaker, 25, was charged with possessing methamphetamine, possessing a controlled substance and possessing fire arm ammunition without a FOID card.

According to Paris Police, during the traffic stop , a K-9 sniff of the vehicle and subsequent search uncovered controlled substance pharmaceuticals and trace amounts of methamphetamine.

A “substantial amount” of ammunition and multiple loaded magazines for various firearms were also found in the vehicle, police said.

Shumaker was transported to the Edgar County Jail pending posting of bond.
