PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Paris infant was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon after reportedly being found unresponsive by her mother, according to Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett.

Barrett said the mother called 911 at 12:03 p.m. Sunday stating she found her 2-month-old daughter unresponsive. The caller said she fed the infant several hours earlier and then placed her in a swing while she went back to bed.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a neighbor attempting CPR on the infant. The infant was transported to Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

An autopsy was conducted Monday morning at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr. Official cause and manner of death results are pending per the completion of pathology and toxicology testing.
