PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Paris High School is excited to have a new gymnasium floor now in place.
The school had to replace the gym floor after it suffered water damage this past winter. A fire suppression line broke during the extremely cold weather on Christmas day and as a result, flooded parts of the school.
Since that day, Principal Mark Cox noted that the community stepped up and came through to support the school and get the floor replaced quickly and the gym was used for graduation.
While the new floor is still curing Cox says that should be done within the first week of June.
“Everything this summer will be good to go, kids camps and open gyms and practices can start like normal in the fall,” said Cox.
Cox also noted that crews are addressing some other areas that suffered water damage, like the parts of the floor in the cafeteria, but he expects everything to be completed and accessible in August.
