TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local school children in need will have extra food on hand this summer thanks to the community’s generosity.
Our Pack It Back For The Summer food drive was held recently along with a number of community partners. Friday was packing day as volunteers flocked to Toyota of Terre Haute to stuff 250 backpacks with food donated by the community.
The Vigo County School Corporation will distribute the backpacks to students in need.
Not only does the event provide students with easy to prepare food, it also gives them a brand new backpack.
“I’ve had multiple kids go through the school corporation and I know there’s always kids out there that need a little bit of extra help and hopefully we can do all that we can do to help them out,” President of Toyota of Terre Haute Scott Jaeger said.
We thank all who donated including the International Union of Police Associations Local 133 who donated $1,000 to the program.
We also thank all of the community partners who helped put on the event.
