TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An annual Thanksgiving tradition made it’s return to downtown Terre Haute.

Over 400 runners gathered Thanksgiving morning to participate in the 9th annual Turkey Trot. The trot consisted of a family friendly 5k race and 1 mile run. The event is held to help raise funds and food for the community during the holiday season.

Race director Ethan Page said he’s grateful for the community’s support.

“It’s kinda part of their family tradition. So, we’re really happy to just kinda be part of that family tradition and be able to help a lot of people in the progress,” Page said.

Partial proceeds and all canned foods will be given to local soup kitchens and food pantries.
