TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Over $250,000 in renovations have been completed at one Terre Haute park.
City officials announced that upgrades at Brittlebank Park, which include additional pickleball courts, a basketball court and a playground, are officially done. The project also included new bathrooms, extending the parking lot and adding bleachers.
Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett said he hoped the renovations would bring more traffic to the area.
“It’s a phenomenal facility now, and a lot of people don’t know where Brittlebank Park is, it’s kind of in a neighborhood on the south side,” he said. “Please visit it and check it out.”
The project was paid for by a grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources that was given to the city’s park department.
“We did the project last year, and it was a reimbursable grant, so we did pieces of it and finished things out and we have to send our bills to the state and they’ll reimburse us for the $265,000 the grant was for,” he said.
