TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Over $120,000 were donated to 60 Wabash Valley-area non-profit organizations at First Financial Bank Wednesday, celebrating the legacies of four Terre Haute individuals.

The money came from charitable trusts from Oscar Baur, Frederick R. Benson, Mary Smith Young and Sheldon Swope. Carol Myers, the senior trust officer for the bank, said the trust has benefitted countless groups over the past seven decades.

“These trusts have been in effect since the 1950’s,” she said. “When you think of the number of agencies and institutions and individuals that they have helped over the years, it just brings joy to your heart.”

The bank was packed with representatives from all the different organizations– the first time they’ve held the ceremony in person since 2020.

“It was very exciting after having a two-year hiatus of not making the presentations. It was so nice to see all the smiling faces in one room. And more so, just to recognize those four individuals for the work and the generosity they have for the community,” she said.

The bank also announced over $60,000 in donations to the United Way of Wabash Valley.
