TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — People living with special needs in the Wabash Valley are preparing for the annual ‘Grace Gala’ later this week in Terre Haute.
It will be held Friday and Saturday at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church.
Our Julie Henricks will once again be emceeing this year’s gala.
Jess Berryhill is helping to organize this year’s event. She joined us live Wednesday morning on WTWP Today to discuss this year’s gala and why it’s so important to those participating.
“It’s a beautiful thing when we can pull up a chair or make space at the table,” Berryhill explains. “So, I think our goal is that Terre Haute becomes a little more inclusive and I think this event does that. It opens the door, allows people to serve, and gets experience alongside our friends with disabilities. A lot of them have outfits planned. They have karaoke songs lined up. It’s just lots of really cool special touches that go in this week, and they’ll show up on the red carpet Friday and Saturday.”
