VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One teen died after his pickup truck rolled off of the road around 5 p.m. Saturday on State Road 42 in Vigo County near the Clay County line.

Trevor Buckley, 17, Russiaville, Ind., was driving a maroon Chevy pickup truck traveling west on SR-42 when, for an unknown reason, his truck ran off the northside of the road, Sheriff John Plasse said in a news release. Buckley attempted to steer back onto the road but overcorrected, causing his truck to roll into a ditch and break into several pieces, Plasse said.

Buckley was the only passenger in the car and was ejected from his seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Plasse said.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation revealed Buckley was wearing a seatbelt when he ran off the road. Additionally, Plasse said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
