TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A very well known drummer who was listed on Rolling Stone Magazine’s top “100 Greatest Drummers of All Time” list, made an appearance in Terre Haute Tuesday evening.

Kenny Aronoff spoke at the Tilson Auditorium as part of ISU’s speaker series. Aronoff is one of the world`s most influential and in demand drummers and percussionists.

He has performed with numerous artists such as John Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, and Smashing Pumpkins. His sound has been on over 60 Grammy-nominated or awarded recordings and on multiple Billboard #1 hit songs.

Aronoff said he remembers the moment he got his inspiration to start music.

“Music was just a part of, it was like the soundtrack of my life. But when I saw the Beatles on TV at age ten, that’s as I’ll mention in my speech, I mean that was like life changing,” Aronoff said. “That was like the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen in my life. And that was that spilt second when I realized I wanna do that.”

Aronoff has created some of the most iconic drum parts in rock history including John Mellencamp’s “Jack and Diane”.
