GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A single-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality after a Linton man’s vehicle was found along CR. 1250 W. and CR. 500 N.
According to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Officer, after receiving an Apple Watch Emergency SOS alert at around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, EMS, fire, and law enforcement were dispatched to the area. The release states “law enforcement was dispatched, responded, and searched the area and did not locate any vehicles or crash site.”
The driver, later identified as Steven T. Gimbut, 41, left the road for unknown reasons and struck a tree before coming to a stop in a wooden ravine at the bottom of an embankment. At 11:24 dispatch was notified of the vehicle’s location. Gimbut was pronounced dead on scene.
