DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– One person was killed after a car struck a pole late Saturday night in Daviess County.

According to a Facebook post from the Daviess County Sheriff, a 1997 Jeep carrying seven passengers was traveling West on County Road 700 North just before midnight. 16-year-old Lora Graber was partially leaning outside the vehicle when it sideswiped a pole near the intersection of County Road 300 East, striking her.

Members of the Plainville Volunteer Fire Department performed life-saving measures, but Graber was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Jordan Wagler of Montgomery, Indiana, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.
