TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) —  Terre Haute North students have been preparing for months for an upcoming competition.

Students on the DECA team will be competing in the International DECA Competition. DECA is an organization that focuses on preparing high school students to be leaders in the business world.

The group must compete and win at the district and state level to advance to international. Students will be asked, depending on their category, to either take a test, role-play a situation, or give a presentation. The five categories include: hospitality, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, and business management.

Senior Dallas Duzan has been a part of DECA since his freshman year.

“It’s very important to me I’ve been in DECA since I was a freshman, so this is always been my end goal to be doing one of these big projects at the end. Being able to help my chapter and I really enjoyed it because I am seeing the direct impacts of what my project did for the chapter,” Dallas Duzan said.

The competition will be April 21 through 26 in Orlando Florida.
