WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Nine local teachers were announced Friday as the selected winners of the second-annual “2021 McDonald’s Outstanding Educators” from a pool of more than 720 nominations.

The award honors teachers who “exhibit the ultimate dedication to their students and contribute to the improvement of education in our most challenging times”. Local McDonald’s Owner and Operator Jami Kasprzyk said recognizing teachers for all they do for youth is a top priority for McDonald’s.

“Our local educators are the definition of perseverance and loyalty. They show up and give their all day after day to make sure our students thrive,” Kasprzyk said. “We’re excited to recognize those who go above and beyond for our students through the Outstanding Educator awards.”

Winners of the outstanding educator award will each receive:

  • $100 to use toward their classroom
  • A “Best Teacher Ever” coffee mug
  • Outstanding Educator Certificate
  • McDonald’s coupons to “teach it forward” to parents with outstanding students throughout the year

Local McDonald’s restaurants dedicated additional funds this year to award one outstanding educator with a $1,000 Visa Gift Card as well. The winner of that $1,000 prize was Morgan Marchi, a teacher at Terre Haute South High School.
