CARLISLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Court documents filed this week have revealed more information regarding a fatal shooting in Carlisle that killed one local teenager.

The shooting occurred on June 10 after two groups of people gathered near the corner of Lewis and Ledgerwood streets. Shots were fired, killing 15-year-old Mezmariah Wilson of Shelburn, Ind.

Matthew Earle and Kyle Johnson were arrested in connection with the incident on June 12.

The probable cause affidavit for Earle and Johnson’s arrests says the two men went to Carlisle after being asked to help out in a fist fight that was planned. According to the affidavit, Earle told police he fired several shots at the ground.

Court documents state Earle also told investigators that Johnson fired several rounds toward the opposing group. The affidavit says that Earle and Johnson then drove away and threw the slides and barrels of their handguns out of their car window near Harlan Drive.

The two men now face charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony, and obstruction of justice, a level 6 felony.
