WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A groundbreaking in Daviess County marks the start of an opportunity for local youth.

A 15,000 square foot building will soon replace the current powerhouse building. The new building will feature an indoor gym, cafeteria area, a gaming center, and so much more space.
this project was made possible from donations and fundraising events.

Powerhouse is an organization in Washington aiming to help junior high and high school-aged children connect to their faith and overcome adversity in their lives. The organization offers things like after school programming, adventure trips, and more. All aiming to better the lives of the next generation.

Executive Director Tracy Cook said the larger space will give more opportunity for the children.

“One of the things when I started back in 2019 my goal was to make sure that the Powerhouse would be here forever, until we’re not needed. And so one of those steps is to have a new facility that we can count on for many years,” Cook said.
