BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After three years of discussion, residents in Brazil will get to enjoy a new addition to a local park.

The City of Brazil was awarded $658,000 to build a splash pad in Forest Park. The splash pad will be added next to the pool where the basketball court is located. A new basketball court will then be placed to a different location within the park.

Mayor Brian Wyndham said the splash pad will have extended hours of operation that are different from the pool and no lifeguards will be needed.

“Anytime we can enhance our parks and recreation system, its always a good thing. And honestly all the credit for this needs to go to our park board. They do a great job when it comes to doing everything they can to make our parks and recreation system a better place,” Wyndham said.

The mayor also said he hopes to have it ready by the summer of 2023.
