TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man has been sentenced to 6-years in prison.

Christopher Nelson, appeared in Vigo County Superior Court 3 for sentencing Monday in relation to two separate cases.

The first case originated in February 2023, in which Nelson accepted a plea agreement with the prosecution. He pleaded guilty to a level 4 felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. The second case originated in July following a police pursuit. As part of a plea deal in that case Nelson agreed to plead guilty to the singular charge of resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony.

All other charges were dropped.

Court records show that Judge Sarah K. Mullican then handed down a sentence of six years in prison for the first case, and two year’s in prison (suspended) for the second case with two years of probation attached.

The order indicates that the probation sentence must be served consecutive to the first case’s prison time.

Nelson received 187 days credit for time served.
