SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Sullivan County Humane Society is getting ready for their annual dinner and silent auction fundraiser and organizers say, it’s ‘Nacho average fundraiser.’

For $10, you can help yourself to the self-serve nacho bar. It includes nachos with all the toppings, a drink and desert.

Plus, there will be a silent auction featuring over 60 baskets. Julie Tow, board president, said, “We have to get money to keep our shelter doors open and so the silent auction always brings a lot of people. The money that we raise always goes to help take care of the unwanted animals in our community.”

It’s all happening on Friday, November 10th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Crossroads Community Church on the square in downtown Sullivan.

Tow said all proceeds help the shelter, “This annual event is very important to the shelter. This is our big fundraiser for the year. And like everywhere else, the cost of running the shelter, medical supplies, food, just the upkeep of the shelter has almost quadrupled in the last couple years.”

To view silent auction items ahead of the event or to make bids from the comfort of your home visit Sullivan County Humane Society on Facebook. Basket donations should be turned in by Thursday, November 9.
