EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on IL Route 1 just south of Paris.
Illinois State Police said troopers responded to the crash near Hill Road around 4:25 pm.
An investigation revealed one vehicle was traveling south on IL Route 1 when a second vehicle in front of it stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Hill Road.
For an unknown reason, the driver of the first vehicle did not see the driver of the second vehicle stopped in the roadway and struck them in the rear.
Police said the second vehicle left the roadway to the right and traveled into a ditch.
The driver of the first vehicle reportedly crossed the northbound lane and struck a third vehicle that was traveling north on IL Route 1.
Police said the drivers of the first and third vehicles were brought to regional hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
The roadway was closed for approximately two hours for clean-up.
Police said this is an open and ongoing crash investigation. No other information is available at this time.
