EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – I-70 has reopened after being forced to close for several hours following a wreck involving multiple semi trucks Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 3:30 p.m.

Illinois State Police confirmed a crash involving multiple truck tractor semi-trailers (TTST) near mile marker 101.  One TTST went over the concrete barrier and into the opposite lane of travel. The eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 were both shutdown and a rerouted around the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
