TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Two people were critically injured and flown to Indianapolis following a single-vehicle crash Monday evening.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. in the 3000 block of S Houseman Street.

Both the driver and front seat passenger were trapped and unconscious inside of the vehicle after leaving the roadway and striking two trees.

The crash caused Houseman Street to be closed for some time. Honey Creek and Riley fire departments responded and worked to free both the driver and passenger.

The two were flown to Indianapolis hospitals for further treatment.

No update involving the status of the two injured persons was immediately available as of Tuesday afternoon.
