PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A motorcyclist was transported by helicopter to an area hospital after striking a truck on US 41 on April 8. 

According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened around 1:30 p.m., on US 41 near CR 900 S. A 29-year-old Rockville man was traveling southbound on US 41 on a motorcycle behind a 65-year-old Rosedale man driving a GMC truck. 

As the motorcyclist attempted to pass the truck driver, the truck slowed down to make a left turn on CR 900 S. leading to the motorcyclist striking the back of the truck. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. 

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Methodist Hospital for injuries.

Local agencies Lyford First Responders, Parke County EMS, and Double D towing assisted in the incident.
