Montezuma man on house arrest escapes chase with Parke County deputies

MONTEZUMA, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Montezuma man that is on house arrest through Owen County was chased by Parke County deputies Monday before driving into a river and escaping arrest.

Dylan Hart, 32, of Montezuma, Ind., was committing a traffic violation Monday at the intersection of Canal and Washington Streets in Montezuma when Parke County Sheriff’s deputies began attempting to pull him over. Hart allegedly did not stop and drove north out of Montezuma.

While in pursuit of police, deputies said Hart drove to Howard and left his vehicle in the flooded river bottoms. He began running away on foot and was able to evade arrest.

Hart, according to police, is around 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. He is on house arrest through a charge in Owen County, but police believe he has removed his electronic ankle bracelet.
