TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Twenty-six-year MLB pitcher and Terre Haute native, Tommy John, is back in town.
He returns as he is currently in the process of finishing up the documentary about his life. He said there are crew still traveling currently to get interviews with family member and ex-baseball players.
The journey of Tommy John started right here in Terre Haute. He then went on to pitch over twenty-six years in the major leagues with his best years being with the Yankees and Dodgers.
Even though he has lived in the biggest cities in the country, John said none will ever be more important to him than Terre Haute. This mindset was given to him early in his life by his father, in a quote John recalled.
“Tom, you may play for a month, you may play for twenty years, but you will forever only be Tommy John from Terre Haute, Indiana,” John said.
Tommy John will be in attendance and honored at the Terre Haute Rex game on Wednesday.
