VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With the annual Miracle on 7th Street event right around the corner, the committee is working to raise funds by spending 12 hours on the roof of Baesler’s Market.

On Friday, several members of the Miracle on 7th Street committee stayed on the roof of the local market for 12 hours, encouraging people to stop by and donate. From 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. they will accept canned goods and monetary donations.

Having started in 2008, the Miracle on 7th Street event has donated to 46 different charities/nonprofits and has also donated more than $245,000; while also providing about 29,000 pounds of food.

“The whole mission of Miracle is not only to create family traditions with our annual event downtown, but we also want to support our local food pantries. This time of the year is when it’s most needed,” Marla Flowers said.

Charities directly benefiting from the Miracle on 7th Street include:

  • The 14th and Chestnut Community Center Grumbling Tummies program
  • Catholic Charities
  • St. Benedict`s Soup Kitchen
  • the Tribune-Star`s Christmas Basket Fund
  • Providence Food Pantry
  • Manna from Seven
