TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Wednesday, members of Remnant Church in Terre Haute gave away free food to members of the community.
Lately the church has been giving away food off and on, but before the pandemic hit, they were doing it every week. On Wednesday, group members unloaded one and a half semi trailers worth of food.
Because the church doesn’t have a food pantry, those associated with it say they give away the food almost as soon as it arrives.
“It’s part of our values here at this church. We want to serve people. We want to love all and serve all. We’ve said it since 2020 hit and COVID hit, it’s our city. It’s our responsibility and if we can start taking action and helping and not just sit inside that church and get outside of it and actually help make an impact. We’re going to make a difference one person at a time,” lead pastor Brenden Norman said.
The church has no regularly scheduled time for the food giveaways. Norman says the best way to know when the food giveaways are happening, is to follow the church on their Facebook page.
