TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The honor of being called Miss ISU 2024 has been given to Piper Watkins.

Piper Watkins is a very involved Indiana State Sycamore. She is communications major, member of the Indiana State Spirit Squad, and news anchor for Sycamore Video.

All of these things, and more, combined to give her all of the traits to become Miss ISU 2024. Winning this award is very special to her because of how much she loves ISU.

“I really love Indiana State and being an ambassador for this university is very important to me. I want to represent us well at the Miss Indiana competition. I’m really excited for all the experiences I’m going to gain throughout my year of service in preparation for Miss Indiana in June,” said Watkins.

One of the things she attributes her success to is being a part of Sycamore Video. She is an on-air anchor and says doing this helped her tremendously for the interview portion of the competition.

It has also allowed her to embrace her creative side and be able to share it with the masses. Jeffrey Perkins is the student video production manager at ISU, and he expresses that he has all the faith in the world in Piper.

“She is very posed, very sharp, and she is very good on camera. I don’t think that she is going to have any difficult doing anything. I’m really excited and looking forward to the Miss Indiana pageant,” said Perkins.

Piper wanted to emphasize that being a part of Sycamore Video didn’t only help her for this pageant. It helped her grow as a person.

“It’s been really amazing to have the opportunity to learn how to be in front of the camera and learn how to have better interview skills and be able to interview other people. I think it really helps with our communication skills in life. I think I can use these experiences to grow as a person and it has been really great,” added Watkins.

Piper wants to thank all of the people that made all of this possible and that she appreciates them more than they know.
