TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The United States Marine Corps collaborated with Toys for Tots to collect gifts for local children.
The event ran from Oct. 1 – Dec. 18 and organizers say 13,000 toys were collected for local children in need.
“It’s a pleasure to give families the gift of Christmas, or actually to children, giving the families and the kids the opportunity to open presents during Christmas Day,” said coordinator Richard Hernandez.
All of the toys were distributed to families in Vigo, Parke, Vermillion, and Clay Counties.
“Giving back to the children it makes me feel great,” Hernandez said. “Words can’t describe. It’s a feeling of having a child open up a present where they’re unable to do it prior to having the Toys for Tots give that opportunity for them.”
