Man wanted out of Coles, Edgar counties now in custody

UPDATE: William R. Blair, 32, is now in custody.
 
The Coles County Sheriff’s department, with assistance from the Charleston Police Department, arrested Blair Saturday afternoon in Rardin.
 
He was taken into custody without incident, and is currently being held at the Coles County jail on warrants out of Coles and Edgar counties. He is also being charged with three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: The Coles County Sheriff’s Department is seeking assistance from the public to locate a man they say could be armed and dangerous.

William R. Blair, 32, has an active warrant through Coles County for a pre-trial violation. He is also wanted in Edgar County on a warrant for aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, interference with the reporting of domestic violence and theft of a motor vehicle.

Blair is a person of interest in recent stolen and recovered vehicles within Coles and surrounding counties. 

He was last seen around midnight Thursday on foot in Rardin, Ill. He is believed to be traveling between Rardin and unknown cabins near Route 16 and the Embarrass River. 

Blair was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. 

Authorities warn the public not to approach Blair or make contact with him. They are also urging residents to remove keys from their vehicles and to keep their properties locked.
