VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A suspect accused in an attempted murder in Vincennes was located in Kentucky.
James Birge was identified by the victim after police responded to a shooting early Sunday morning on South 10th Street, according to Det. Sgt. Doug Lowe.
An investigation with numerous tips from the public revealed that Birge had fled to Madisonville, Ky. With the assistance of the Madisonville Police Department Detective Division and their SWAT team, Birge was located and taken into custody without incident.
Birge is being held on a warrant charging him with attempted murder pending extradition back to Knox County.
The victim is currently in stable condition at a hospital in Evansville. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
