Man walking cross country to raise mental health awareness

Local News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you see a bear walking around the Wabash Valley sometime soon, don’t be alarmed.

Not a real bear, of course, but a man on a mission. The man calls himself Bearsun and he is on a cross country journey from Los Angeles to New York.

Last night, he stopped in Martinsville, Ill., then travelled on to Marshall, Ill. and arrived in Terre Haute, Ind. earlier today.

He is raising awareness and funding for five non-profits that help the disabled community, mental health research, autism, breast cancer and the environment.

“People put up a smile but inside there are tears sometimes and hurt,” Bearsun said. “Mental health means humanity. The mind is the most dangerous weapon equipped on planet earth so it means everything. My biggest fear is being disattached from my mind and so we have to take care of it.”
