TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Terre Haute man is facing charges after authorities say his fiance he was caring for died of a drug overdose.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Rick Allen Bradbury called police to his home on June 5 after finding his fiance, 52-year-old Melissa Freeman, dead in the bedroom.
Court documents state Bradbury told officers she had a degenerative bone disease and was paralyzed, and that he took care of her.
Authorities say an autopsy report showed Freeman died from an accidental meth and opioid overdose.
Bradbury was arrested on a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death.
Court documents say that during questioning after his arrest, Bradbury told officers he purchased meth that he and Freeman smoked together.
Online court records show Bradbury’s trial is currently set for February 14, 2022.
