VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The man charged with murder in relation to the death of Sarah Henderson was given a new jury trial date after appearing in court.

Philip Atterson had a hearing in Vigo County Superior Court 6 on Tuesday, during which new pre-trial and jury trial dates were set.

Atterson is accused of murdering Sarah Henderson, whose body was discovered in a Springhill Drive storage unit around Christmas of 2020.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a witness claimed to be with the couple for a few hours on Christmas Eve at a storage unit on Springhill Drive. The witness said while he was at the unit Henderson and Atterson started arguing.

The witness told police about 10 minutes after leaving the unit Atterson called him asking for help cleaning up some trash.

When the witness arrived back at the storage unit he saw Henderson’s dead body and he told police that Atterson said “I did that, man”. This witness then told authorities he got in his vehicle and left, then called 911 but did not leave his information.

Court records indicate that Judge Michael J. Lewis scheduled Atterson’s pretrial conference for November 14, with the jury trial to take place at 1 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
