VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man was arrested for drunk driving Sunday in Vermillion County, Ind., after losing control of his car and driving off of the road.

According to a police report, Vermillion County 911 dispatch received a call about a traffic accident Sunday morning in front of a residence on US Highway 136. Upon arrival, deputies with the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office found a man showing signs of impairment who had lost control of his vehicle, drove into a ditch and crashed into a fence post.

Police said the man, 37-year-old Jason Gibson of Covington, was traveling east on US 136 in his 2015 Ford Mustang when the crash occurred. Gibson allegedly declined to take a field sobriety test but consented to a certified chemical test, which police say resulted in a .27% BAL by breath.

Gibson was initially taken to Union Hospital in Clinton, Ind., where he was treated and cleared for injuries. He was then taken to Vermillion County Jail where he was booked for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and endangering another person as well as operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a BAL of .15 or more.
