CHARLESTON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man has been arrested after police said he entered a building and threatened someone before fleeing police.

According to the Charleston Police Department, Gaylon Swango entered an occupied building in the 500 block of 18th Street without permission. Once inside, Swango reportedly threatened a person inside the building.

When police responded to the scene, they reportedly saw Swango fleeing the scene on a bicycle. A search located Swango in a nearby wooded area where police were able to place him under arrest without further incident.

Swango was then taken to the Coles County Jail where he’s being held on $25,000 bond with 10% allowed.

Swango has been preliminarily charged with criminal damage to a property, criminal trespassing with a person present and aggravated fleeing.
