VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Those wishing to volunteer to help vulnerable children as they deal with situations involving the court system can learn more at an upcoming recruitment event.

CASA which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates provides advocates for abused and neglected children as they move through the juvenile system.

On March 31 starting at 10 a.m. Vigo County CASA will host a Couples for CASA Brunch. The event is an opportunity for those who wish to become an advocate as a couple to learn more about the program. The brunch will be held at the Meadows Conference Room.

Representatives from CASA said some folks can be apprehensive about becoming an advocate by themselves. However, having someone to partner with as a team in the effort can alleviate that concern. The event will feature a short presentation and gives visitors a chance to ask questions and speak with CASA staff and current volunteers.

This is a free event and open to all interested that are at least 21-years-old. Qualifications include a clean background check and the desire and heart to make a difference in a child’s life.

Seating is limited so CASA is asking participants to pre-register for the event at this link.
