VIGO COUNTY Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana Department of Transportation released its 2020 project list, including nine roadway projects throughout Vigo County.
INDOT has an estimated $11 million in costs for Vigo County’s 2020 projects alone, including structure work along U.S. 41 and five miles of repaving on I-70 between mile markers one and five.
The Vigo County Highway Department also has plans for its roads before the end of the year.
Engineer Larry Robbins said their estimates total a few million dollars.
“We could see some significant paving money going into the county this year,” Robbins said. “If everything works out, I have some bridge projects that I will be working on as well. I am still working on finalizing that rehab schedule for those, but there will be three or four at least coming out this year.”
He said if grant funding is approved, few million dollars could be added to the budget.
“150 to Pheasant Place, French Drive, Highway 256 and 159 will all have work done on them this year,” Robbins said.
One traveler said she welcomes the construction to roadways entering Indiana because, “they absolutely need it.”
Commuter Vickie Wallace said she drives frequently and the quality of the road makes a big difference.
