LYFORD, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Residents living north of Parkwood Road in Lyford are being asked to boil water before use.

An official with Lyford Waterworks shared that a temporary boil order has been declared for residents located north of Parkwood Road.

The cause for the order is that a water main has broken and will need to be repaired.

The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows;

•   Fill a pot with water.

•   Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.

•   Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.

•   Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.

•   Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.

Customers can expect the order to expire at 6 p.m. Thursday.
