MARTIN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Tennessee man has been arrested after Loogootee Police say he was driving under the influence and possessed illegal drugs.

According to the Loogootee Police Department, the incident began with a concerned resident calling dispatch to report a reckless driver on U.S. 231 South. A police officer pulled the vehicle over as it traveled along East Broadway in Loogootee.

The officer reported the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search located methamphetamine and marijuana in the vehicle. The officer placed the driver under arrest after he failed field sobriety tests.

The driver, Charles Bryant, 26, of Goodlettsville, Tenn. has been preliminarily charged with the following;

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment
    • A class A misdemeanor
  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated controlled substance
    • A class C misdemeanor
  • Possession of methamphetamine
    • A level 6 felony
  • Possession of marijuana
    • A class B misdemeanor
  • Possession of paraphernalia
    • A class C misdemeanor

Loogootee Police thanked the concerned caller who reported the driver and reminded residents to report dangerous driving on the roadways.
