VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A longtime presence in the Vincennes Township Fire Department has died.

According to Vincennes Township Fire, Captain Tom Williams, who served more than 30 years with the organization before retiring in 2020. died on Monday. He was 63.

A 1978 graduate of Lincoln High School, Williams received his law enforcement degree from Vincennes University. Williams reportedly began his career as a volunteer firefighter before going full-time and rising through the ranks to the position of captain. Williams also led the public education division within the organization.

“Williams dedicated his life to the community he served and we will give him firefighter honors at his funeral to honor Tommy and his family for that service,” a Facebook post reads.
