SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — People whose homes were damaged in Friday’s tornado may need to take extra precautions ahead of the potential for severe weather Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Vigo County’s EMA director Doreen Hojnicki wanted to remind residents to remove items that should not get wet from their homes if it hasn’t been tarped or is not watertight.
Hojnicki also said the Sullivan Civic Center is offering bins with lids for those impacted to safely store their items.
“We suggest that you bin as much as you possibly can. If you can tarp other things, but realizing we are in the situation of the possibility of high winds, so if you tarp, it has to be absolutely secure or we may lose some of the tarping,” Hojnicki said.
Hojnicki also encourages residents to let friends and relatives know where they will be staying.
