TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The gazebo decked out in red, white and blue located at the Hospice of the Wabash Valley Memorial Garden in Deming Park doesn’t just fit perfectly with the Fourth of July theme. It also raises money for a good cause.
For the fourth year, the Hospice of Wabash Valley is running its veteran star fundraiser. It allows for community members to donate $5 in exchange for a star that can be dedicated to a veteran.
Media specialist for the organization, Shelby Watson, said she was proud to see the fundraiser grow over the past four years.
We’re very proud to be a level five we honor veterans program. For us to come through the park and see how patriotic our gazebo is, it’s a good feeling,” she said.
Proceeds will go to the organization’s “We Honor Veterans” committee. Watson said the decorations will stay up through the holiday weekend, and be taken down next week.
