TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local small businesses are preparing to fulfill the needs of last minute shoppers ahead of Christmas Day on Saturday.

Pacesetter Sports Owner Brent Compton said that he and his staff plan to work on Christmas Eve to help fill the needs of last minute shoppers.

“We work these next few days because we’re excited to see these people,” Compton said. “We wait all year to have our doors open for these last minute shoppers.”

Sons Spice Co. Co-Owner Wyatt Sons said that his business is also gearing up for a potentially busy last minute shopping season.

“We’re really able to customize a gift that works best for them,” Sons explained. “The holiday season has been really huge for us and we’ve seen a big boom because of that.”

Compton said that he’s planning to end the year on a good note after supply chain issues back in the spring affected some business operations. He said that he was forced to make some changes in getting inventory in order to be prepared for the Christmas season.

“We decided to bring inventory in early after learning in the spring that was probably the only way to successfully navigate that,” Compton said.
