TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Area bikers raced a 3 county long course to help raise money for Griffin Bike Park.

The Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department hosted the second annual Garbage Mountain Gravel Grinder on Saturday.

Participants could ride either a 35 or 65-mile-long race.

The track was primarily a natural surface and took bikers all across the area to see garbage mountain, turkey farms, and numerous trails.

Griffin Bike Park Manager Rich Moore said the funds raised are vital for the operations of the park.

“Events like this keeps the bike park going,” Moore said. “All the money is invested back into the park as we do maintenance, or purchase new equipment.”

Griffin Bike Park will host foot and mountain bike events next weekend April 23rd with the Dew Indiana Off Road Series.
