TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local organization is not only providing people in need with food to eat, but also helpful recipes.
The Salvation Army in Terre Haute distributed food bags Tuesday to Vigo County residents.
Each bag contains the items needed to make shepherd’s pie and the recipe for it.
The organization says the food distribution is in addition to its food pantry and that people seemed really excited about it.
“We noticed that we were giving out a mixture of items in the pantry. We wanted to give people something where they could make a meal and provide a recipe so if they come to the pantry again, they will have that recipe in mind and take what they have, and make something of it,” says Jaylee Lawson, a caseworker.
Lawson says they plan to do this event once a month, featuring a different recipe each time.
