SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Long-term tornado recovery efforts continue in Sullivan.
On Wednesday, Bill Harman with the Saginaw, Michigan Rotary Club brought furniture to the old EMA garage in Sullivan.
The furniture included items like couches, chairs, a bunk bed for kids, a desk, a dining room table, and more.
Harman said he has prior experience with disaster relief after enduring major floods in Sanford, Michigan back in 2020.
Harman also noted that now that many immediate needs have been covered for people, providing furniture seemed like the next step to help those tornado victims in need.
“Something tells me I gotta go do this so I packed up stuff, got rotary to help me, got a good deal on a trailer, brought the wood and stuff like that, I drove all night Saturday night and was here Sunday morning helping. And you know, it’s giving back to the other people, that’s what it is,” said Harman.
Harman also mentioned that he plans to return to the area on the first week of June, with a 24-foot trailer that he hopes will be fully loaded with even more furniture for the community to use.
Harman says anyone affected by the tornado can come and have access to the furniture.
