TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Dozens of people loaded into golf carts bright and early this morning for a charity event.

On Friday, the 14th and Chestnut Community Center held their annual golf scramble in which about 50 people played including individuals and teams from businesses.

The event raises funds for the center which is a faith-based organization that provides after-school and summer programming.

Center director Connor Scanlon said their after-school program will begin soon.

“We use those funds for food, for activities, for field trips throughout the year, so just a really big boost that we need during the year to provide everything we do for the kids there,” Scanlon said.

Scanlon also noted that they’re grateful to everyone who took part in the event and to Idle Creek, which is where the event took place.
