GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A wanted man is in jail after pulling a knife during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon, with his mother in the vehicle.

Police were originally called to the area of Shady Lane and Meadows Drive on a report of a suspicious vehicle around 4:15 p.m.

Officers caught up with the vehicle on North State Road 45 at Greene County Line Road.

During the stop, police say Lloyd Turpin went into his glove box and pulled out a knife.

At one point, the suspect asked officers to shoot him.

Eventually, a taser was deployed and Turpin was taken into custody.

Police say they found a hypodermic syringe in his pocket as they searched him.

Turpin was wanted for Failure to Appear regarding charges of Intimidation on Law Enforcement, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Refusal to Aid an Officer.  He also has an outstanding Parole Warrant through the Indiana Department of Corrections, according to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
